he princess Sunhwa was the third daughter of the Queen Jinsung of Silla.
Sunhwa came to Gamchoo to cure her diseases upon the advice of Ji-myoung, a Buddhist monk. The princess found two units of stone clave to enshrine a Buddha statue and read Buddhist texts and prayed for three years. In the end, she was recovered completely. Then Sunhwa established a temple to commemorate the virtue of Buddha. Now, there only remain the remnants of the claves. The temple we see today was built in 1902.
